What is fiber jumping? In the communication industry, fiber jumping has two meanings, one is a verb, the other is a noun.

1. When the verb is used, it means to jump to the optical fiber, even if the optical fiber is used to connect the communication devices at both ends. These include:

Optical fiber jumper between ODF (Optical Distribution frame, Optical Distribution Frame) and ODF.

Optical fiber jumper between ODF and device.

Optical fiber jumper between equipment and equipment.

two。 When a noun is used, it refers to an optical fiber or tail fiber with connectors at both ends. In this paper, the term "jumping fiber", optical fiber or tail fiber with connectors at both ends are collectively referred to as optical fiber.

According to ODF and device port standards, optical fiber is divided into the following types:

According to the optical fiber interface: divided into LC, FC and SC. There are six types of optical fiber: FC-FC, SC-SC, LC-LC, FC-SC, FC-LC and SC-LC.

The LC is a 1.25 mm ferrule with engineering plastic and small square joints. The FC is a 2.5 mm ferrule with a metal material and a round threaded joint. The SC is a 2.5 mm ferrule with engineering plastic and standard square joints.

According to the optical fiber length, it is divided into 1.5 m, 2 m, 3 m, 5 m, 10 m, 15 m, 20 m and so on.

According to the use of optical fiber: LC interface is commonly used in equipment; FC interface is often used for ODF to connect remote fiber core; SC interface is often used for ODF and equipment.

The principle of fiber jumping is that there are so many types of optical fibers that they cannot be laid out at will. In order to facilitate future operation and maintenance, the following principles should be met when jumping fiber:

1. When jumping fiber, the principles of neat optical fiber, beautiful wiring, easy operation and less space of ODF and equipment must be satisfied.

two。 When jumping, first connect one end of the optical fiber to the equipment port, the other end walks the fiber from the wiring slot, pull out the disk fiber rack to wind the excess optical fiber into a circle, put it on the disk fiber rack, and then push it into the disk fiber rack after being wrapped with optical fiber binding tape, and then connect the other end to the equipment or ODF frame.

3. When coiling fiber, the same optical fiber is strictly prohibited from cross-winding between multiple disk fiber racks.

4. The optical fiber across the cabinet should be protected by bushing when crossing the cabinet to prevent the optical fiber from being squeezed by other cables, and those with a distribution frame should be placed in the distribution frame.

5. When connecting the optical fiber, the tension should not be too tight and the joint is at a right angle.

6. All optical fibers must be placed in the wiring slot, and it is strictly forbidden to place or fly wires outside the frame.

7. Optical fibers of insufficient length shall not be used, and optical fiber adapters are not allowed to connect two segments of optical fibers to avoid increasing the attenuation of optical fibers.

8. When inserting the optical fiber, the optical fiber end face (optical fiber connector) should be cleaned. It is forbidden to touch the end face of optical fiber directly or let the end face of optical fiber touch the object of production environment.

9. When connecting the optical fiber, the optical fiber connector should be inserted vertically into the optical interface to avoid oblique insertion. The entire optical fiber connector should be inserted into place. Commonly used SC and LC connectors will hear a "snap" sign that the connection is in place.

10. It is strictly forbidden to pull the optical fiber, which is easy to cause the cracking of the optical fiber and the connector.

11. It is strictly forbidden to twist the optical fiber line to avoid possible twisting of the optical fiber line, and the coiled fiber should be carried out along the natural relaxation state of the optical fiber.

The fiber jumping process has understood the concept and layout principles of fiber jumping, and then it is time to start laying out the optical fiber, which consists of six steps:

1. Prepare tools, materials and disk information according to business requirements.

Tool preparation: marker pen, tube cover, label paper, oily pen, notepad, pliers, electric tape.

Material preparation: optical fiber, optical module, optical fiber binding tape (nylon adhesive tape), the quantity, type or length of the corresponding material depends on the demand.

Disk preparation: understand the computer room, equipment, ODF location and other related information, and record.

two。 Select the optical fiber according to the interface type and length, select the appropriate optical fiber.

The corresponding optical fiber is selected according to the interface, the splitter and the flange head on the splitter box.

If you choose the length of the optical fiber, it is recommended that the margin of the optical fiber length be controlled within 50 cm.

3. Lay out the optical fiber according to the principle of jumping fiber.

Confirm the location of the interface, splitter, or splitter box.

Remove the optical fiber cap from the optical fiber connector.

Insert the connector at one end of the optical fiber into the appropriate device interface location.

Place the optical fiber along the wiring area to the corresponding equipment.

Insert the connector at the other end of the optical fiber into the appropriate device interface location.

4. Paste labels in order to facilitate equipment maintenance, each end of each optical fiber should be affixed with a label 1 cm~2 cm away from the connector.

All optical fiber labels must be labeled by machine, and handwriting is not allowed.

For the case of laying multiple optical fibers at the same time, first identify the optical fiber with a marker to avoid confusion, and then paste the optical fiber label after the placement is completed.

Labels need to be pasted at both ends of the fiber.

The pasted label is oriented toward unification. For vertical cables, the label head generally faces to the left. For horizontal cables, the label head is generally facing down.

5. The optical fiber is bound by the optical fiber binding tape according to a certain distance.

When the optical fiber is tied into a bundle, the distance between the optical fiber bandages should be 20 cm.

When the optical fiber is tied into a bundle, the optical fiber bandage should be tied on both sides of the corner to avoid breaking the core caused by excessive force at the bend. The bending radius of 2 mm optical fiber can not be less than 30 mm,3 mm, and the bending radius of optical fiber can not be less than 40 mm.

The contact surface between the optical fiber bandage and the optical fiber is the hairy surface, and the hook surface of the optical fiber bandage is not in contact with the optical fiber.

The optical fiber should be straightened out before binding. The optical fiber binding tape should be loose and tight when binding the optical fiber, and do not bind it too tightly. When laying out, try to avoid optical fiber interlacing.

6. After the finishing work is completed, the finishing work needs to be carried out:

Tool arrangement: put the tools used in the installation to the specified location.

Recovery of residual materials: recycling of engineering surplus materials.

Clean up the debris: clean up the rubbish produced by the installation to ensure a clean environment.

Complete the installation report: transfer the site installation report to the relevant person in charge. If the site is working normally, inform the operation and maintenance personnel that the fiber jumping has been completed.
