Another new car-building power is facing difficulties.
On December 7, the self-traveler founded by Li Yinan announced that the first car could not be delivered in the short term. Despite the halo of "former Huawei Crown Prince", "Huawei traitor" and "Young Genius", Li Yinan seems to be unable to recover from his inability to build a car.
After leaving Huawei, Li Yinan successively tried the roles of professional manager and investor, and even went to jail for a time. Building a car is his first start-up project since he was released from prison and is seen as the last, but fate seems to have played a joke on the 52-year-old genius.
Compared with the car-building boom of the previous two years, this year's new energy automobile industry is returning to the rationality of market competition.
The self-traveling car, which was still refuting rumors of collapse a few days ago, officially announced on December 7 that the first model, the NV, would not be delivered in the short term and would be fully refunded to users.
Li Yinan, a young genius who made a comeback, his dream of building a car was shattered.
Two months ago, he also showed up at the press conference with his first model, the NV, and stressed that his production qualification came from Mahayana. It is reported that 24376 users of NV have paid intention money. According to the announcement, these users will receive a full refund within 48 hours, as well as a NV car model and a 200-yuan Starbucks consumption card.

It is worth noting that the registration of this announcement is Mahayana, the reason given is also due to its own reasons, NV will not be able to deliver in the short term.
According to the current signs, the self-traveling car can not be delivered, which is due to the production qualification of the Mahayana car.
In 2018, the year Li Yinan officially announced the next car-building, Wu Jianzhong, then chairman of Zhongtai Automobile, handed over Zhongtai Jintan Base and Fuzhou Base to his son Wu Xiao, who founded Mahayana. Li Yinan chose to build cars in cooperation with Mahayana Motors. Zhongtai Jintan Base (Jiangsu Jintan Mahayana Automotive Technology Industrial Park), located in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, has also become the only car factory for self-travelers.
Li Yinan's idea is that the self-traveler team can endow Mahayana cars with forward-looking technology fields such as software, intelligence, and three electricity, so as to jointly improve the level of the whole vehicle and intelligent software. Zi Youjia's products are produced by the Mahayana car factory.
However, Li Yinan chose the wrong partner.
As Zhongtai Motors was on the verge of bankruptcy and was burdened with huge debts, Mahayana was reported to have stopped production in 2019. According to a document issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2020, for new energy vehicle companies that have stopped production for more than 24 months, re-production needs to be verified by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and enterprises that cannot maintain access conditions or have gone bankrupt may be disqualified. It is obvious that Mahayana has not completed the qualification examination and approval of the competent department and is unable to regain its qualification.
A few days ago, there were media reports that since the Youjia car was mired in a wave of bankruptcy and layoffs, a number of employees said that they had begun to leave the company in batches, and the company planned to withdraw all of them.
In May this year, when the media asked what to do when the road of building a car could not go down, Li Yinan replied: if you can't go on, you can't go on. It must be sad. You can only go home and cry. What else can you do? Suicide? It's not the first time I've experienced the collapse of a company. But at least we have to leave the last sum of money to pay severance payment, Niss1, to meet the requirements of national laws and regulations. At the worst, I won't do it if the money doesn't work. I'll pay back the supplier's money first.
In a word, the self-traveling car may have really reached the point where it is impossible to go on.
Li Yinan was a star in the tech world before the ill-fated genius announced that he would build a car.
Born in 1970, he was admitted to the juvenile class of Huazhong University of Science and Technology at the age of 15. After graduating from graduate school, he officially joined Huawei.
Because of his technical talent, Li Yinan was deeply appreciated by Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei. In 1996, Li Yinan, just 26, was appointed executive vice president of Huawei and was seen by the outside world as the successor to Ren Zhengfei and the second person of Huawei.
But in 2000, Li Yinan suddenly left Huawei and founded the Harbor Network. The business of Harbor Network is the same as that of Huawei, and many of its R & D personnel are brought by Li Yinan from Huawei and become direct competitors to Huawei.
This infuriated Ren Zhengfei, and Huawei even set up a special "hit Hong Kong Office". In the end, Huawei acquired Harbor Network and recruited Li Yinan.
Li Yinan, who returned to Huawei, is obviously not reconciled to it. After leaving Huawei, he frequently changed jobs, first joining Baidu as CTO, then joining China Mobile's 12580 as CEO, and finally joining GSR Ventures as a partner.
After straddling professional managers, investors and other roles, Li Yinan still has an entrepreneurial dream. In 2015, Li Yinan announced his return to entrepreneurship, founded Niu Dian Technology, and entered the two-wheeled electric car track.
But as soon as Niu Dian Technology's first product was released, Li Yinan was criminally detained by the Shenzhen Public Security Bureau on suspicion of insider trading. Prosecutors allege that Li Yinan was suspected of insider trading during his tenure with GSR Ventures. In April 2014, Li Yinan made a full position in Wuhan Huazhong CNC Co., Ltd. through the stock trading accounts of his brother-in-law and mother, with a turnover of more than 1148 million yuan and an actual profit of 5.08 million. He also asked his sister to buy Huazhong CNC during the same period, with a transaction amount of more than 4.99 million yuan and an actual profit of 2.36 million yuan.
In the end, Li Yinan was sentenced to two years and six months in prison and fined 7.5 million yuan. Building a car was also his first start-up project after he got out of prison.
According to media reports, a self-tour employee revealed that Li Yinan did not completely give up his attempt to build a car. In the case of problems with the production qualification of Mahayana, Li Yinan is discussing the issue of contract manufacturing with Shandong Guojin Automobile.
According to the data, Shandong Guojin Automobile was founded in 2016, has the production capacity of new energy passenger vehicles, and is qualified for the production of new energy pure electric passenger vehicles approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is the first new energy passenger vehicle enterprise in Shandong Province to obtain the independent qualification of the national "Road Motor vehicles and production Enterprise announcement".
However, the replacement of contract manufacturers means that the car-building process has to start all over again, and under the current fierce competition in the new energy vehicle market, the chances of self-travel families turning around are getting smaller and smaller.
A few years ago, Wei Xiaoli was a hot new force in car building. However, in the new energy track competition into a white-hot state, the seating position of the new power of car-building has changed obviously. Take the delivery volume in November this year as an example, Xiaopeng delivered a total of 5811 units in November, down 62.78% from the same period last year. According to statistics, Xiaopeng has sold no more than 10,000 cars for four consecutive months, or even less than 40% of last year's sales for 11 consecutive months, setting a new low. Due to errors in the pricing strategy of the G9 model, the sales situation is not optimistic and obviously lags behind.
Xiaopeng car lagged behind at the same time, which car, polar krypton, AITO boundary and other brands become the dark horse of delivery.
In addition, another new car-building force, Weima Motors, is also facing financial difficulties. In November, Weimar announced in an internal letter that due to financial pressure, management cut salaries by 50 per cent, other employees paid 70 per cent of their basic salaries, bonuses and year-end bonuses were no longer paid this year, and car purchase subsidies were suspended.
Compared with the lively car-building announced by mobile phone manufacturers and Internet companies, the new energy vehicle industry has ushered in an obvious reshuffle period this year. For new car-building forces such as self-travelers, opportunities may really be running out.
