CTOnews.com, Dec. 8, citing Bloomberg, Murata Manufacturing Co. Believes that due to weak demand for iPhone 14 models, Apple will further cut production plans in the coming months, which will be transmitted to mobile phone supply chain manufacturers will affect their performance.

"judging from the supply of mobile phones in the store, I think Apple will cut orders further, but I hope it will not be cut too hard," Norio Nakajima, president of Murata Studio, said in an interview with Bloomberg by Pixabay.

Murata has cut its global smartphone production forecast for the current fiscal year several times. The company initially estimated in April that global mobile phone shipments would be 1.37 billion, up slightly from 1.36 billion in the previous fiscal year. In October, the company lowered its forecast to less than 1.2 billion, and then to 1.09 billion two weeks later. Nakajima also reduced its mobile phone shipments to 1.08 billion units.

Apple no longer disclosed sales of the iPhone, but Bloomberg News reported that its initial goal was to produce 90 million units this quarter, which the company cut to 87 million a month ago because of falling demand. UBS said this month that the entire iPhone 14th generation may be 16 million fewer than previously expected.

CTOnews.com learned that the Kyoto-based manufacturer is a "weather vane" for the mobile phone industry, providing electronic modules and components to Apple's iPhone, Samsung Electronics' Android smartphones and China's major device makers.

Murata said he is not worried about shipments because mobile phone production will recover in January-February next year, but the biggest problem now is weak consumer demand.

"I went shopping with my son last Sunday to buy the phones of our main customers, and every model and color is in stock in the store," he said. I wouldn't be surprised if customers cut their forecasts even further.
