According to news on the evening of December 7, Beijing time, the French environmental group HOP Association today complained against Apple, saying that its business practices limited the possibility of repairing its products with spare parts, which was a waste.

"We have found that in many complaint cases, Apple products repaired with spare parts, even with the same model of original accessories, malfunctioned and were not authorized (identified) by Apple's software," the HOP Association said in a statement.

The HOP Association believes that this will affect the possibility of repairing or refurbishing some Apple products, including iPhone smartphones. Under French law, manufacturers are prohibited from deliberately shortening the life of their products in order to increase their renewal rate.

Apple has yet to comment.

In 2020, the HOP Association complained to the French General Administration for competitive consumption and Anti-Fraud (DGCCRF) that Apple deliberately used iOS software updates to slow down the old iPhone. In the end, Apple was fined 25 million euros ($26 million).
