CTOnews.com, Dec. 7-Samsung has equipped its smartwatch with blood pressure monitoring since Galaxy Watch Active 2, but it is only available in a few countries. Now, Samsung will provide this feature for more countries, such as Malaysia.

The Malaysia Medical Devices Authority is responsible for approving and authorizing medical-grade devices in Malaysia and has recently approved the country's Samsung blood pressure application. This means that all Galaxy watches with this function at the hardware level will be able to provide blood pressure monitoring services to users.

Samsung's blood pressure app is for over-the-counter use for adults over the age of 22. It can measure blood pressure (systolic and diastolic blood pressure), pulse rate and historical charts for users by connecting Samsung smartphones. The app cannot be used on non-Samsung Android smartphones. The ECG ECG is not mentioned in the certification document, so it looks like ECG will not appear on Samsung smartwatches any time soon.

CTOnews.com learned that the blood pressure monitoring function was first launched in South Korea and then expanded to another 31 countries two years ago. Blood pressure monitoring function exists in Galaxy Watch Active 2, Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
