CTOnews.com, December 7, according to Tsinghua University, Huang Kezhi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor of the Department of Engineering Mechanics of the School of Astronautics and Aeronautics of Tsinghua University, died in Beijing on December 6, 2022 at the age of 95.

Comrade Huang Kezhi was born in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province on July 21, 1927 and graduated from Jiangxi Chiang Kai-shek University in 1947. After entering Tsinghua University in 1948, he was admitted as a graduate student and stayed on to teach. He was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991 and foreign academician of the Russian National Academy of Sciences in 2003.

Comrade Huang Kezhi is a famous mechanics educator and one of the founders of the talent training system of engineering mechanics in our country. He devoted his whole life to teaching and educating people, and trained a large number of mechanics professionals, including 6 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, more than 100 doctors, masters and postdoctors. He is a big teacher in the eyes of Tsinghua teachers and students and won the first Tsinghua University Outstanding contribution Award.

Comrade Huang Kezhi is a world-famous mechanical scientist and one of the founders of engineering mechanics in China. He has made universally recognized academic achievements in plate and shell mechanics, fracture mechanics, plastic mechanics, micro-nano mechanics, shale hydraulic fracturing and so on. He solved the world difficult problem of pressure vessel engineering design, formed a leading international design method, listed in many design and safety assessment standards of our country, and applied to many industrial sectors, resulting in huge economic and social benefits.

Comrade Huang Kezhi has won many honors and awards, including a number of national natural science awards and international awards, national special prizes for outstanding teaching achievements in institutions of higher learning, and medals for model workers and people's teachers in the national education system.
