Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com December 7 news, TrendForce Jibang Consulting released a report today that the total global smartphone production reached 289 million units in the third quarter, down 0.9% from the previous quarter and 11% from the same period last year, breaking the rule of positive growth in the third quarter over the years.

The report points out that this is mainly due to the fact that smartphone brand factories continue to lower their production targets due to the conservative production planning for the third quarter under the consideration of giving priority to adjusting the inventory of finished products in the channel, coupled with the impact of the weak global economy.

Among them, Samsung's production in the third quarter increased by 3.9% month-on-month, to about 64.2 million units, but production will continue to shrink in the fourth quarter because of inventory pressure. It is expected that the global market share of folding screen phones is expected to further increase to 1.5% in 2023, and Samsung will be able to win nearly 80% of the market share.

In addition, Apple's production rose steadily to 5080 million units in the third quarter, ranking second. The third to fifth places were Xiaomi (including Redmi, POCO, black shark), OPPO (including realme, OnePlus) and vivo (including iQOO). Only Xiaomi production was the same as in the second quarter, while the other two manufacturers showed month-on-month decline.

▲ source: TrendForce Jibang Consulting CTOnews.com learned that TrendForce Jibang Consulting said that total smartphone production is expected to be about 316 million units in the fourth quarter, an increase of 9.3% month-on-month, which is still in recession compared with the same period in 2021. The report points out that since the third quarter of 2021, there has been a marked weakening message in the smartphone market, which has shown a year-on-year recession for six consecutive quarters. It is expected that this trough cycle will not pick up until the second quarter of 2023 at the earliest, as the channel inventory level is corrected.
