In these projects, the purchase requisition is usually created for the purchase of MRO materials (the purchase requisition for direct materials is made by MRP RUN), and the customer procurement department of the project generally has a full-time MRO buyer. When other business departments need to purchase MRO materials, the purchasing group corresponding to this purchaser can be used as the default value when creating the purchase request, so as to reduce the manual input workload of the business staff, so there is no trouble.

In the D project in which the author is now working, the same strategy is also used for the creation of purchase requisition: the purchase requisition for direct materials comes from the operation of MRP, and the purchaser application for MRO materials needs to be created manually by various demand departments. The problem is that the purchasing department head count is very nervous, there is no full-time MRO buyer. One of the troubles brought by this is that when each demand department creates the purchase request documents, they do not know which purchaser of these MRO materials will be purchased by the procurement department in the future, and they are unable to designate a correct purchaser. The author first inquired about the screen format of the purchase requisition documents and found that in the ME51N transaction code, the setting of this field was optional.

It seems that the setting of this screen format cannot realize that the purchase group will not report an error if the purchase group is empty when the foreground creates a PR.

It can only be solved from the point of view of message attributes. The message number is ME083.

Just set the property of the Message ME083 to W (warning)? This may not be the case. After changing the configuration, create the purchase requisition again and leave the purchase group empty, and the system will still report an error: Enter purchase group:

It means that the properties of the message have been modified, but still can not meet the business requirements.

However, the ME083 message is a general-purpose message, and this error occurs when the key field is empty in many places. Therefore, the properties of this Message in the system cannot be modified.

The author tries to modify the purchase requisition screen format again to define the "purchase Group" field as display.

In this way, the requirements can be met, and the system will no longer report wrong.

However, the author believes that although this can meet the requirements of the business, it is still strange to turn the procurement group into a display field and not allow input values. Therefore, as an important field, the procurement group is not recommended to be empty. If the approval policy of the purchase requisition does not depend on the purchase group field, it can be suggested that the business staff can enter either a purchase group field or a specified purchase group when creating the purchase requisition. After all, when the business staff of the procurement department converts the purchase application into a purchase order, the purchase group in the purchase order can really be determined, even if the purchase group in the purchase order is not correct, it doesn't matter. It can also be modified in the purchase order at this time.
