CTOnews.com, December 7 (Xinhua)-- Google adjusted its support plan in late September, saying that Chrome browser support for Manifest V2 was extended for another year. Microsoft has now decided to follow Manifest and start phasing out Manifest V2 while promoting Manifest V3.

According to Microsoft's updated support documentation, support for Manifest V2 on systems with policies configured in an enterprise environment will end in January 2024.

CTOnews.com learned that Microsoft Edge extension Mall no longer accepts extensions based on Manifest V2. However, developers can still update existing Manifest V2-based extensions. Microsoft has not announced a specific phase-out plan for the time being, but it is believed that at some point the node will also refuse to update the existing Manifest V2 extension and promote the migration of all extensions to Manifest V3.
