CTOnews.com, December 7 (Xinhua)-- Microsoft has once again revealed the eye-catching achievements of the "Sleep tab" function in its Microsoft Edge browser. In June, Microsoft announced that the feature saved more memory space than 273PB within 28 days of launch; today, Microsoft once again announced that a total of 1.38 billion tabs went to sleep in September. Microsoft did not release exact memory savings today, saying only that the "sleep tab" feature helped Edge browsers free an average of 83% of their memory.

CTOnews.com learned that the Sleep tab is a memory-saving feature of Microsoft's Microsoft Edge browser. Once a page is inactive, the Edge browser puts it to sleep, reducing memory footprint.

In Edge browsers, this feature is described as "when efficiency mode is turned on, the inactive tab will go to sleep after 5 minutes or less. The actual time may vary depending on resource usage and activities that prevent the site from sleeping, such as playing audio." Users can adjust the time they go to sleep according to their needs.
