CTOnews.com December 6 news, according to Taiwan's "Economic Daily" reported that TSMC released this evening, the United States Arizona wafer factory began construction of the second phase of the project, is expected to start production of 3nm process technology in 2026, the first phase of the plant currently under construction is expected to start production of N4 process technology in 2024, the total investment of the two phases of the project is about 40 billion US dollars (about 278.8 billion yuan), one of the largest investments in Arizona history.

TSMC said that in addition to more than 10,000 construction workers assisting in the construction of the plant, the two phases of the Arizona fab project are expected to create an additional 10,000 high-paying high-tech jobs, including 4500 directly employed by TSMC. After the completion of the two phases of the project, the total annual output will exceed 600,000 wafers, and the market value of the terminal products is estimated to exceed US $40 billion (about 278.8 billion yuan).

CTOnews.com understands that in line with its commitment to green manufacturing, TSMC Arizona fab will also plan to build an industrial reclaimed water plant on site that will achieve near-zero liquid emissions when completed.

Liu Deyin, chairman of TSMC, said that TSMC's Arizona fab aims to become the most environmentally friendly semiconductor manufacturing plant in the United States after completion, applying the most advanced semiconductor process technology to achieve the next generation of high performance and low power computing products in the next few years. Working with partners in the United States, it will be a cornerstone of semiconductor innovation.
