CTOnews.com, December 6 (Xinhua)-- Mercedes-Benz's first dealership of the world's pure electric Mercedes-EQ brand opened on Tuesday in Yokohama, south of Tokyo, Japan, Reuters reported.

Mercedes-Benz has launched five electric models since 2019 and has "seen further growth in the Japanese electric car market," Mercedes-Benz said in a statement.

Foreign brands sold a record 2357 electric vehicles in November, exceeding 1/10 of total imported car sales for the first time, according to the Japan Automobile importers Association (JAIA). Of all models, Mercedes-Benz sold 51722 cars in Japan last year, making it the best-selling foreign car brand, according to JAIA.

CTOnews.com learned that Mercedes-Benz sold 520100 cars worldwide in the third quarter of 2022, up 20% from a year ago, including 517800 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars (up 21%) and a small number of trucks.

The brightest of these is that Mercedes-Benz's all-electric car sales more than doubled in Q3, reaching 30000 units in a single quarter. In September, in particular, a record 13100 pure electric vehicles were sold, including 3400 Mercedes-Benz EQB.
