When using Microsoft Outlook, users can quickly choose to send the document as a traditional attachment, or upload it to OneDrive and share a link to the file. Sending a link in an email that jumps to an OneDrive or SharePoint document can reduce the volume of the message.

If you choose to send as an attachment, you can attach the entire file to the e-mail message just as you selected the file on your computer. Now you can search for traditional attachments in Outlook through Microsoft search (Microsoft Search).
