CTOnews.com, December 6 (Xinhua) in the past few years, Apple's Find My function has done countless things to help victims find lost iPhone, iPad and other items. However, the Find My function sometimes deviates, resulting in the police mistakenly targeting criminal suspects.

CTOnews.com learned that the incident took place on January 3, 2022. A truck was stolen from the Denver Hyatt Hotel in Denver, USA. The owner said there were two drones, $4000 in cash and an iPhone 11.

Denver police officer Gary Staab finally located a house by tracking the owner's iPhone 11. After targeting the house, Stubb applied for a search warrant for the house.

The house is currently occupied by Ruby Ruby Johnson, 77, whose car doors and windows were damaged by a team led by Stubb in the investigation. In addition, some property such as Johnson's dolls were destroyed in the search, but no stolen goods were found in the search.

So Johnson sued Stubb. In the lawsuit, Stubb's search warrant violated Johnson's right to "freedom from unreasonable search and confiscation" under the state constitution, NBC News reported. The complaint alleges that Stubb failed to independently confirm the site. Apple's Find My app is designed to determine the approximate location and should not be used as a law enforcement tool.
