Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, December 6 (Xinhua)-- according to Strategy Analytics research, there is a very interesting trend in the penetration of 4G LTE phones in China and South Korea, two major countries that have been the world's fastest in terms of 5G network roll-out and 5G phone availability in the past three years.

Tuyuan Unsplash in China, the penetration rate of 4G LTE phones, calculated by shipments, starts at 76% of Q1 in 2020 and ends at 25% of Q4 in the same year. It is still quite stable, with a penetration rate of 19% in the first quarter of 2021 and 15% in the fourth quarter of 2021. In the first three quarters of 2022, its permeability was somewhat stable (not a rapid decline), averaging about 14%.

South Korea is showing a more noteworthy trend. In terms of shipments, the penetration rate of 4G LTE phones on Q1 in 2019 was 96 per cent (the first quarter of the launch of 5G phones in South Korea), falling sharply to 22 per cent by the end of 2021. However, penetration remained fairly stable at 19 per cent in the first three quarters of 2022.

CTOnews.com learned that according to the report analysis, it is likely that the relative stability of 4G LTE handset share this year is closely related to (1) different market reactions to 5G and (2) consumers continue to prefer 4G prices.
