CTOnews.com, December 6 (Xinhua) according to the latest data released by market research firm Press Gazette, Apple News+ subscribers in the United States are reading fewer and fewer well-known publications, but it is uncertain whether the same trend will occur next year.

Statistics show that the total circulation of the top 25 magazines in Apple News+ exceeded 1.3 million in the first half of 2022. This is higher than the first half of 2021, but lower than the second half of 2021.

CTOnews.com learned that the data in the report was provided by the Audit Media Alliance (AAM) and was calculated as the average unique opening of each issue of the magazine. The specific data are as follows:

First half of 2021: 1255802

Second half of 2021: 1622823

First half of 2022: 1333088

Press Gazette also shared charts of changes in the top 10 Apple News + circulation and charts of Apple News + top 25 US magazines. However, publishers point out that "the top 25 magazines vary slightly from period to period, which means that the circulation of many of the top magazines has increased significantly despite fluctuations".

In the top 10 circulation charts, only four out of ten publishers had negative year-on-year changes. The top 25 charts track the average number of unique Apple News + users per issue, compared to the total volume of each issue. Magazine circulation is not a key indicator to measure the success of Apple News+ services, inflation and other macro-environmental factors will also affect magazine reading.
