CTOnews.com, December 6 (Xinhua)-- Microsoft has confirmed that it will increase the pricing of its first-party Xbox games from next month, but the new titles will still be added to XGP subscriptions for the first time.

From 2023, Xbox Game Studios's new games, such as Starry Sky, Blood and Ultimate Speed, will rise from the usual $59.99 to $69.99, the same as the prices of competing games such as Sony, UBG and Take-Two.

Microsoft issued the following statement on the price increase:

We put off the price increase until after the holiday so that everyone can enjoy the gifts brought by the game when the family is reunited.

Starting in 2023, our full-price games for the next generation will be released on all platforms at a price of $69.99. This pricing reflects the content, scale and technical complexity of these games. Like all games developed by our team at Xbox, these games will be available through Game Pass on the day of release.

It is worth mentioning that Sony and other manufacturers announced the era of $70 games as early as two years ago, while Take-Two, Activision, EA and Square Enix all announced price increases, while Ubisoft said its follow-up works were also the $70 standard. CTOnews.com learned that Sony PS5 games currently range from $49.99 to $69.99.

It is worth mentioning that Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Xbox, has previously hinted that prices may be raised after the holiday.

"our game consoles have always maintained this price, and games and subscriptions have always maintained this price. But I don't think we can do this forever. I do think we have to raise the price of something at some point, but during this holiday, we think it is very necessary to maintain the current price."
