According to news in the morning of December 6, Beijing time, a group of employees who joined the company through the Meta training program said that their severance pay was lower than that of other employees who were recently laid off.
These employees are members of Meta's Commissioner training Program, which aims to help employees of different backgrounds gain career development opportunities in corporate technology recruitment. The program is part of the Meta "path" project, which aims to help people without traditional professional backgrounds gain apprenticeships on the social network and prepare for a variety of positions.
The commissioner training program has more than 60 employees, almost all of whom left the company amid 11000 layoffs in early November, according to people familiar with the matter.
Several members of the Commissioner training Program said they joined Meta in April as the last members of the project. They say they are not contract workers but short-term employees with access to all full-time benefits such as insurance and pension, excluding stocks. After completing the 12-month project, these employees will become full-time employees if they meet the necessary standards.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg (Mark Zuckerberg) said in a letter to employees during the layoffs that the company would pay them 16 weeks of base salary, plus an additional two weeks of uncapped basic salary for every year of work. Mr Zuckerberg added that Meta would pay six months of health insurance for employees and their families.
But members of Meta's "specialist training program" said they received only eight weeks of base salary and three months of COBRA health insurance.
Employees say it is not clear why their severance pay is lower than that of their colleagues. After all, they are also full-time employees, not contract workers.
On Nov. 16, affected employees sent letters to Zuckerberg and other Meta executives, including Meta HR director Lori Goler and COO Javier Javier Olivan. They inform the management of their problems, hoping for help.

The affected Meta employees said they had not received any response from Meta's human resources department and management.

Meta has not commented on this.
