CTOnews.com, Dec. 6, citing CNBC reported that Apple is considering producing some iPad models in India. It is reported that Apple has discussed with a number of Indian officials to move part of the iPad production line to India, but some obstacles such as professional manufacturing personnel and supporting peripheral facilities need to be overcome in the implementation process.

CTOnews.com learned that the two sides are only in the discussion stage, Apple does not have a "specific plan", but it is clear that Apple wants to further improve its supply chain on a global scale. What worries Apple right now is the lack of highly skilled people and people with expertise in making highly complex devices in India, CNBC said in a report.

Apple has been expanding its production line in India since 2017. After pilot production of older models such as the iPhone SE, Apple subsequently expanded production and began producing a standard model of the iPhone 14 in India.

Foxconn, an Apple supplier, has also been increasing its investment in India, with sources saying that Apple had set a target of 25 per cent of iPhone produced in India by 2025. Apple suppliers, including Wittronic and Pegatron, are also actively expanding the Indian market, but there is still a long way to go to really develop.
