CTOnews.com December 5, Samsung announced that it has obtained two international standards for cloud security certification, namely ISO 27001 and ISO 27017. This proves the company's "world-class information protection and system operation capability".

ISO 27001 certification (Information Security Management system) and ISO 27017 certification (Cloud Services Information Security Management system) are developed by the International Organization for Standardization and certified by the Royal Institute of Standards. Samsung confirmed that it can obtain both cloud security certifications.

CTOnews.com learned that Samsung's MX division, which is responsible for mobile devices such as smartphones, has received two cloud security certifications. It also proves that the company is a world leader in its ability to manage systems and protect "private cloud" information (which operates for services such as software updates).

ISO 27001 is one of the most prestigious certifications in information protection, based on the Information Security Management system (BS7799) standard developed by the BSI Group in 1999. In order to obtain this certification, applicants must meet 133 management standards in 11 categories, including information protection policies and information access controls.

On the other hand, applicants can obtain ISO 27017 certification when operating cloud service environment and information protection management in accordance with international standards. On Samsung's achievements, the world's national standard-setting body BSI (British Standards Institute) said: "through this review, we have confirmed that Samsung Electronics' private cloud system meets international standards in terms of operational capability and security."

Ahn Gil-joon, vice president of Samsung Electronics MX Mobile platform Center, also said that the company will maintain the highest level of cloud technology and security capabilities and will continue to strive to meet international standards.
