CTOnews.com, Dec. 5 (Xinhua)-- Samsung Electronics today announced the appointment of its first female executive as president of global marketing for its mobile business, the first time Samsung Electronics has promoted a woman to this senior position, Yonhap reported.

Lee Young-hee has been promoted to president of the global marketing center of Samsung's device experience (DX) division, which oversees its mobile business. She is also the first female president of Samsung Group to come from outside the founder's family. Li Fuzhen, the eldest daughter of the late Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee, is now president and CEO of Samsung's Silla Hotel.

According to reports, Lee Yong-hee joined Samsung in 2007 and was promoted to vice president in 2012. She previously worked for L'Or é al. She has been praised for her success in promoting the image and brand of Samsung Galaxy phones.

Samsung expects the promotion to be an opportunity for other talented female employees to challenge themselves and climb the career ladder.

CTOnews.com has learned that Mr Lee is one of seven new presidents, part of the first small-scale corporate reshuffle since the group's de facto leader, Lee Jae-yong, was promoted to president in October. Samsung did not appoint a new head of its home appliance division, a position that has been vacant since Mr Lee resigned in October for undisclosed "personal reasons".
