CTOnews.com, December 4 (Xinhua)-- Epic Games is the first to use the latest illusory engine 5.1 for its popular online game "Fortnite". Players can experience the effect of this latest engine after the update of the second season of Chapter 4.

Unreal engine 5.1 was officially released in mid-November, with improvements to many of the features provided when Unreal engine 5 was released, including performance enhancements for Lumen, Nanite, and Virtual Shadow Maps (VSM) to run games at 60 fps on next-generation game consoles and PC.

CTOnews.com learned that after using Unreal engine 5.1, Fortnite will use DirectX 12 rendering mode by default on high-end computers, and the accuracy of all kinds of modeling has also been improved.

However, starting from the second season of Chapter 4 of Fortnite, players will be required to play with Windows 10 or later, and Windows 7 and Windows 8 will no longer be supported. Epic officials say players using the old system can continue to play Fortnite through cloud games.
