Thank you, Mr. Air, a netizen of CTOnews.com, for your clue delivery! CTOnews.com, December 3 (Xinhua)-- Chinese display giant CSOT has further delayed the installation of equipment at its T5 factory, which is dedicated to the production of sixth-generation liquid crystal display (LCD) panels, according to TheElec.

Li Dongsheng, chairman of TCL, visited South Korea personally this summer, when he asked Huaxing Optoelectronics's South Korean display equipment manufacturer to know about the recent delays.

CTOnews.com learned that the T5 plant plans to produce sixth-generation (1500x1850mm) low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) thin film transistor (TFT) liquid crystal panels for high-end IT devices and automobiles.

Huaxing Optoelectronics Company plans to build a plant in two phases, each with an additional capacity of 15000 substrates per month. The company has placed orders for two phases, but the second phase of equipment delivery and placement has been continuously delayed.

According to sources, Huaxing Optoelectronics also planned to add a MicroLED backplane production line with a monthly production capacity of 15000 substrates, but this plan has been postponed indefinitely.

South Korean kit makers ICD and Viatron have also been affected by the delay. ICD said as early as September that the deadline for its 17.7 billion won contract with Huaxing Optoelectronics had been postponed.

Viatron said the deadline for its 14.6 billion won contract with Chinese display panel makers had been postponed from the end of November to December next year.

Other South Korean equipment manufacturers are also negotiating to further postpone the deadline, the source said.

Huaxing Optoelectronics is likely to delay the installation of equipment due to the downturn in the global LCD market.
