CTOnews.com, December 3, although Fedora users can install Sway Wayland synthesizer through the system's built-in software libraries, Sway fans still hope to provide a version of Sway window manager in the upcoming Fedora 38 release to provide a simpler, out-of-the-box user experience.

A change proposal to create a version of Fedora Sway Spin, which requires Sway to be pre-installed, has been submitted for consideration. However, the change proposal does acknowledge that people have different feelings about the changes to the default desktop / synthesizer during the introduction of another Fedora-spin.

At present, the feedback support has been very low. We see very different feedback. Some people say they like the idea and will use it, while others think it is worthless and may not use it. Some commentators stress that this is not worth it for them because they prefer to install Gnome with Sway.

There are also comments that some users like to have a minimum package set that includes only Sway and do not want to take a two-step process to get their environment, which will happen if they install a version that is not Sway and then install Sway on it.

CTOnews.com learned that Sway is a synthesizer for Wayland and an alternative to x11's i3 window manager. It works with your existing i3 configuration and supports most of the features of i3 as well as some additional features.
