Today, the consumer-grade PC market is already a rivalry between red and blue, but in the field of commercial computers, it is a very different climate. Different from our inherent impression, although commercial PC has a low degree of discussion on the Internet, it is actually the main force of the PC market. The market share accounts for more than 50% of the PC market all the year round. It is the battleground between the major chip enterprises and computer brands. Therefore, the two upstream manufacturers of Intel and AMD are actively promoting the upgrading of commercial PC processors and occupying the market with stronger performance. In this context, various OEM manufacturers have also launched commercial PC with new processors.
At present, the main product of intel is the non-K series of the desktop version of the 12th generation Core processor, which mainly includes Core i3-12100, Core i5-12400 and Core i7-12700. AMD is the Sharon 5000G series processor (core display version), mainly including R5-5600G and R7-5700G main push models. But when we search for "commercial PC" on JD.com and rank it by sales, we can see that the first few pages are all full of 12-generation Intel processors. Most of them are i3-12100 and i5-12400. Why did the market make such a highly consistent choice? We need to answer this question through actual measurement.
Test background recently, the Chinese Academy of Metrology has conducted a number of tests on the productivity of commercial computers, which may give us some directions. The Chinese Academy of Metrology, which belongs to the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, is the highest metrological research center and national legal metrological technical institution. It is a social and public welfare scientific research institution with industry authority, professionalism and objectivity.
This paper selects Lenovo Qitian M455 Core i3-12100, i5-12400 and HP Warfare 99 Pro A G4 Auron R5-5600G, and Lenovo Qitian M455 Core i7-12700 and HP Warfare 99 Pro A G4 Auron R7-5700G for comparative analysis. The running software used is CrossMark 1.0.1.88, a productivity testing tool for the whole platform (the test results are shown below). The Windows 11 professional version (version: 10.0.22000) operating system is installed for the test platform, and drivers such as motherboards and graphics cards are installed, so that the hardware system can work normally and stably.

Next, let's introduce the specific products that participate in the test. I3-12100 is the entry model of the 12th generation Korui, which locates the basic office. It adopts full-performance core design, 4 cores and 8 threads, has 12MB three-level cache, 5MB two-level cache, single core Rui frequency up to 4.3GHz, built-in UHD730 core graphics card, basic power 60W, maximum Rui frequency power 89W. I5-12400 is the 12th generation cool middle positioning middle-end model, positioning the mainstream office. It also adopts full-performance core design, 6 cores and 12 threads, with 18MB three-level cache, 7.5MB two-level cache, single core Rui frequency up to 4.4GHz, built-in UHD730 core graphics card, basic power 65W, maximum Rui frequency power 117W. I7-12700 is the 12th generation Cooley positioning high-end model, positioning high-end office and creative production. Different from the previous two processors, it adopts a hybrid architecture of performance core and energy efficiency core. There are 8 performance cores that support hyperthreading and 4 energy cores that do not support hyperthreading, with a total of 12 cores and 20 threads. With 25MB three-level cache, 12MB two-level cache, single-core Rui frequency up to 4.9GHz, built-in a stronger UHD770 core graphics card, basic power 65W, maximum Rui frequency power 180W. On the AMD side, R5-5600G is based on Zen 3 architecture, with 6 cores and 12 threads, basic frequency 3.9GHz, highest acceleration frequency 4.4Hz, equipped with 3MB second-level cache and 16MB third-level cache, TDP power consumption is 65W. As a test platform, the computer is HP vs. 99 Pro A G4. (the CPU sample is shown below)
The last one is AMD's high-end processor R7-5700G R7-5700G is also based on Zen 3 architecture, specification is 8-core 16-thread, basic frequency 3.8GHz, the highest acceleration frequency can reach 4.6Hz, equipped with 4MB secondary cache and 16MB tertiary cache, TDP power consumption is 65W. As a test platform, the computer is HP vs. 99 Pro A G4. (the CPU sample is shown below)
Interpretation of mid-end processors: i3, i5 and R5 let's first take a look at the CrossMark scores of the three mid-and low-end processors tested. The first is i3-12100, with an overall score of 1547, a productivity score of 1532, a creativity score of 1582 and a response score of 1491.
The overall score of the commercial mainframe with the core of i5-12400 is 1673, productivity 1585, creativity 1815 and response 1539.
Finally, the overall score of R5-5600G host is 1407, productivity is 1427, creativity is 1436, and responsiveness is 1270.
CTOnews.com extracted the data from these three groups of reports and made a comparison table, which shows that even the cheapest i3-12100 leads R5-5600G in performance, and the advantage of i5-12400 is even greater.
In order to facilitate comparison, we have made a percentage comparison table based on R5-5600G, and we can see that i3-12100 leads 7.36% in terms of productivity. Interpretation of high-end processors: i7 and R7 need i7 and R7 for more complex graphic design, video editing, special effects and other work requirements. Thanks to the 12-generation Core i7-12700's new hybrid heterogeneous design, multicore performance has taken a leap forward, with an overall score of 1919, productivity score of 1810, creativity score of 2097, and responsiveness score of 1756.

We can see that i7-12700 leads 21.48% in productivity, 35.90% in creativity, 32.73% in productivity, and 29.05% in overall. Stability and compatibility besides performance, stability and compatibility are also very important.
