CTOnews.com December 2 news, according to Strategy Analytics report, the Japanese smartphone market has long been dominated by Apple iPhone, which is indeed true. And in the latest Q3 2022 actual results, the Japanese market is still dominated by Apple iPhone.

However, looking at the third quarter market share changes for Android and iOS platforms over the past three years, i.e. 2020/ 2021/ 2022, you can see some changes where Android OEMs gained some more share while Apple iPhone lost some share.

The combined share growth of all Android device manufacturers over the past three years is closely related to: (1) fierce competition among mobile operators in Japan to expand market share; and (2) price competition among Android device manufacturers.

CTOnews.com understands that according to the report, in the Japanese smartphone market in Q3 2022, Apple iPhone iOS share is 56.5%, while Android mobile phone share slowly grows to 43.5%.
