According to news in the morning of December 2, Beijing time, Twitter will offer generous preferential policies to major brands to attract them to place advertisements on the social media platform.
After Elon Musk (Elon Musk) joined Twitter, many advertisers scaled back their advertising spending because they were worried about his content censorship policy, hoping to change the previous decline.
Twitter said in an email to the advertising agency that it would launch "the largest advertiser incentive program ever" in December and that additional exposure would be rewarded if advertisers invested a certain amount.
Advertisers who put between $500000 and $1 million on Twitter will receive an equal bonus, the email said. A $350000 ad will receive a half bonus-an extra half of the exposure on top of the exposure already purchased. Advertisers who put in $200000 will get a 1/4 bonus.
Twitter also offered the same discount for American brands in an email to another advertising agency, with slightly adjusted offers for brands in the UK and elsewhere.
Musk completed his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter in October. But a series of measures that followed alienated brands and advertising agencies, including loosening content censorship, restoring illegal accounts and cutting 50 per cent of staff (including a large number of salespeople).
Advertisers, including United Airlines and General Motors, have stopped advertising on Twitter, while advertising companies such as Omnicom Media and Interpublic Group have recommended that customers be suspended, hitting Twitter's $5 billion business.
To complete the acquisition, Musk saddled Twitter with $13 billion in debt with interest of $1 billion a year.
According to the email, Twitter's latest promotions will last until the end of December, and they also invite major brands and advertising agencies to communicate by phone.
Twitter has yet to comment.
Musk calls himself a "free speech absolutist" and allows people to post any comments on Twitter as long as they comply with the law. However, "negative / hate speech" will not be systematically boosted. The company no longer gives priority to blocking false information related to COVID-19, but they said in a tweet on Wednesday that its policy had not changed and that the trust and security team remained "strong and well-resourced".
