CTOnews.com, December 2, according to a report released by market research firm Canalys, PC shipments in the US market fell 12.1% in the third quarter of 2022 compared with the same period last year. Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Apple, Lenovo and Acer occupied the top five seats, of which only Apple and Acer bucked the trend during this period.

Laptops suffered a slump in the quarter, down 14% from a year earlier, Canalys said. On the one hand, this is because companies are more cautious about costs, and on the other hand, there is a decline in demand in the consumer and education sectors. But desktops grew by 1%.

"the US PC market will contract for a long time in the future, with both consumer and education demand affected by inflation," said Brian Lynch, an analyst at Canalys research. "now, the previously resilient business sector has begun to weaken, with the first year-on-year decline in 2022."

CTOnews.com learned that Apple and Acer were the only two companies that achieved positive year-on-year growth in the third quarter, but Dell managed to retain its No. 1 position. Dell has a 26.1% market share, up from 27.6% the previous year.
