Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, December 2 (Xinhua) A post on the foreign social network Facebook recently attracted netizens' attention, saying that long-term wearing of the Apple AirPods will allow "radiation and Bluetooth signals to pass directly through the brain", which may seriously lead to brain cancer, and users are encouraged not to use the in-ear headphones.
However, this post does not list detailed evidence, but quotes some media reports that worry about and question the security of wireless devices such as the AirPods. Most of these media reports are based on a petition to the United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO). The petition, signed by 250 scientists and other signatories, expresses "serious concern about the ubiquitous and increasing exposure of EMF [non-ionized electromagnetic fields] generated by electrical and wireless devices".
Tuyuan PexelsCTOnews.com learned that the petition was released in May 2015, Apple did not launch the AirPods product line until a year later, and the petition did not mention wireless headphones.
Bluetooth wireless headsets, including Apple's AirPods, emit low levels of radiation (called non-ionizing radiation) in the form of electromagnetic radiation. But mobile devices such as mobile phones and tablets also emit this kind of radiation.
"although radiofrequency radiation is not thought to cause cancer by destroying DNA in cells like ionizing radiation, there has been concern that in some cases, certain forms of non-ionizing radiation may still have other effects on cells, leading to cancer in some way," the American Cancer Society said.
Foreign science and technology media Full Fact checked the relevant data and found no evidence that wearing AirPods would cause brain tumors and other health problems because of this radiation, nor could it find evidence that the radiation emitted by wireless headphones "penetrated directly into the brain." At present, this post has been marked as false.
