CTOnews.com, December 2 (Xinhua)-- Tesla delivered the first batch of Tesla Semi electric semitrailers to Pepsi at a delivery ceremony at its Nevada superfactory at 17:00 local time on Thursday (9: 00 Beijing time today).

As soon as the press conference began, Tesla CEO Elon Musk (Elon Musk) entered the scene in a Tesla Semi. He also mocked that it had been five years since the delivery of the Tesla Semi.

CTOnews.com learned that the model, which was scheduled to go into production by 2019, was repeatedly delayed due to battery restrictions. The Tesla Semi will be the first new model delivered to customers by Tesla after Model Y.

Mr Musk said the Semi would have a range of 500miles and would be "super fun to drive". Later, Musk also said that future versions of the Semi could reach a range of 621 miles (about 1000 kilometers).

On the power side, the Semi uses a three-motor powertrain (one is an energy efficiency unit and two are torque acceleration units). It takes only 5 seconds to accelerate at 0-60 mph at no load and 20 seconds at full load.

Tesla also stressed that the model has the best driver experience, with two 15-inch touch screens and wireless charging, and this is their first 1000V high voltage product.

CTOnews.com learned that Tesla Semi electric truck first appeared in the moon phase in November 2017. Specifications released at the time showed that the car could reach 60 miles per hour in 20 seconds when it was fully loaded. In addition, Tesla also said that the car can be recharged 70 per cent in 30 minutes.

It is reported that a number of companies ordered the car shortly after its debut in 2017, including 100 by PepsiCo, 130 by Wal-Mart in Canada, 40 by Anheuser-Busch, and 15 by Frito-Lay, a wholly owned subsidiary of PepsiCo. Tesla originally planned to start delivering the Semi in 2019, but it has been delayed for several years due to parts shortages and other reasons.
