CTOnews.com, December 1, according to the website of the China Meteorological Administration, after six months of business trial operation and the "actual combat" test of typhoons, rainstorms and severe convective weather in this year's flood season, Fengyun 3e and Fengyun 4B and their ground application systems were officially put into operation today (December 1).

The China Meteorological Administration said that this is another expansion of the Fengyun meteorological satellite business operation family following the operation of the second generation geostationary orbit quantitative remote sensing meteorological satellite test satellite Fengyun 4A on May 1, 2018. It is of milestone significance in the process of meteorological modernization in China.

CTOnews.com learned that Fengyun 3e, which was successfully launched on July 5, 2021, is the world's first civil operational satellite in the morning and twilight orbit. Fengyun 4B, which was successfully launched on June 3, 2021, is the first operational satellite of the second generation geostationary orbit meteorological satellite in China, which is mainly used in the fields of weather analysis and forecast, environment and disaster monitoring.

Data from the China Meteorological Administration show that during the trial operation, Fengyun 3e satellite pushed about 650GB data to the National Meteorological Information Center through data distribution, continuously providing data services to domestic and foreign users; Fengyun 4B satellite provided shared services including 90 kinds of products through Sky Rock, and released 37 kinds of products through its website.

According to reports, after the operation, Fengyun 3E will form a three-star network with Fengyun 3C C and D to provide complete global observation data for the numerical forecast model every six hours, so as to improve the accuracy and timeliness of global numerical weather forecasting. Fengyun 4B and Fengyun 4A will form a double satellite network to further meet the needs of meteorological monitoring, forecasting, emergency response and disaster reduction in China and the countries and regions along the "Belt and Road Initiative" route.

Up to now, China has successfully launched 19 Fengyun meteorological satellites of type 4 of two generations, of which 7 are in orbit and are continuing to provide data products and services to 124 countries and regions around the world.
