This is the largest and most intelligent cylindrical FPSO built by China, and is of great significance in promoting the high-end, intelligent, green and low-carbon development of China's manufacturing industry.

According to reports, FPSO is a floating production, storage and unloading device, which integrates the functions of oil and gas production, storage and export, which is equivalent to an "offshore oil and gas processing plant". It is currently the mainstream production device for offshore oil and gas development in the world. Because of its high degree of integration, high technical requirements and difficult construction, it is known as the "crown pearl" in the field of marine engineering, compared with the traditional ship type FPSO. The production process of cylindrical FPSO is more complex, the space layout is more compact, the degree of integration is higher, and the construction technical requirements are more stringent.

CTOnews.com learned that Penguin FPSO consists of two parts: the hull and the upper module, with an overall height of 118m, equivalent to the height of a 42-story residential building, with a total weight of about 32000 tons and a total operating weight of 88000 tons. It is the heaviest cylindrical floating production storage and unloading device currently built in China. The storage capacity of oil is 400000 barrels, the processing capacity of crude oil is 12.75 million barrels per year, and the processing capacity of natural gas is 1.24 billion cubic meters per year, which can meet the annual gas consumption of 3.3 million families.

The whole penguin cylindrical FPSO ship is composed of more than 1 million parts. it integrates 217 sets of large mechanical equipment and more than 17000 sets of equipment on the circular deck with a diameter of 78 meters, with a minimum equipment spacing of less than 10 mm and a total cable laying length of 800000 meters. The construction quality and precision requirements are extremely high, and it can be achieved without returning to the dock for 20 years in the North Sea of England.

Since the start of the project in 2018, the project team has solved the construction problems such as ultra-high precision installation of cable guides and hoisting integration in narrow space, realized 5 domestic first application technologies and more than 20 process innovations, and comprehensively mastered the latest cylindrical FPSO construction and final assembly capabilities, and the integration speed and accuracy reached the world's advanced level.
