One plus also provides details about OxygenOS 13.1 and predicts future changes to OxygenOS 14.

One plus will provide four major OxygenOS system upgrades and five-year security patches for specific phones sold in 2023 and beyond. Currently, one plus has not disclosed which phones will get a longer upgrade period, but it is speculated that high-end flagship phones will be on the list.

According to Gary Chen, head of software products at OnePlus, "this new update policy will give users access to the latest security and functional features, which are the iconic fast and smooth experience that OnePlus brings throughout the phone life cycle."

Samsung offers four years of One UI upgrades and five years of security updates for most of its devices. Apple iOS 16 currently supports phones that can be traced back to the iPhone 8 series.

CTOnews.com has learned that it has released updates to OxygenOS 13 for several phones, and the company says it is developing OxygenOS 13.1 and plans to release a version of the system in the first half of 2023.

According to one plus, "enhanced security will be a key focus area, through the improved version of OnePlus's private security features introduced in OxygenOS 13, as well as other privacy features." The company also said it plans to focus on digital health and well-being, with more emphasis on accessibility for disabled users in OxygenOS 13.1.

One plus did not disclose too much about OxygenOS 14, but did point out that it was already considering future updates. "OxygenOS will be a safer, more stable, smarter, more globally capable system in the future, and will bring better support to the expanding product ecosystem."
