CTOnews.com, Nov. 30, Samsung announced that it will expand the supply of 5G telecom equipment to NTT DoCoMo, a major Japanese telecom operator. The South Korean company will provide 5G base stations to support all major bands of 5G services provided by the network operator.

The two companies signed the contract in March 2021 and have now expanded the agreement. Japan has a high population density and NTT DoCoMo has more than 84 million users nationwide, so the stability of the network communication equipment used will be crucial. Because NTT DoCoMo renewed the contract, this shows that Samsung Network products have proved to be reliable even in densely populated areas.

CTOnews.com has been informed that as part of the contract renewal, Samsung Networks will provide its new ultra-light, compact 5G radios that support 28GHz ultra high frequency (mmWave) and sub-6GHz 5G bands. It weighs only 4.5 kilograms and can be easily installed in urban and densely populated areas.

Satoshi Iwao, general manager of Samsung Electronics' network business in Japan, said: "the key to the mobile communication equipment market is to establish a long-term trust relationship between operators and suppliers and to jointly invest in next-generation technology. We will jointly promote the construction of NTT DoCoMo's 5G network by providing excellent 5G products based on technological strength."
