CTOnews.com Microsoft has updated the official Windows 11 Health Dashboard documentation with details of newly discovered issues in the latest Windows 11 22H2 update. Microsoft says Windows 11 2022 Update users may experience app freeze issues when changing IME (Input Method Editor) input modes.

CTOnews.com has learned that Windows IME or Input Method Editor is a built-in tool that allows users to enter words in languages that are difficult to represent on a standard QWERTY keyboard. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and other East Asian languages have a large number of characters that require users to use key combinations that are processed and interpreted by IME. According to Microsoft, turning on, turning off, or changing input modes causes apps to become unresponsive on Windows 11 2022 Update.

This issue does not affect customers using the initial versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11. Also, users who only use English or other languages with Latin or Cyrillic letters will not experience this problem. Users who rely on Windows IME can mitigate this issue by installing the newly released KB5020044 update patch. This adds some "Moment 2 " features to Windows 11 and fixes other non-security issues, such as issues related to games on Windows 11 22H2.

If users don't want to install the preview update, Microsoft says it can also fix the problem by changing the input mode via the IME mode icon in the taskbar. The application freeze Bug only appears when keyboard shortcuts are used to manage IME.
