CTOnews.com, November 30, Counterpoint Research released a report today that XR (augmented reality) device shipments broke the 10 million mark for the first time in 2021, up 60% from a year earlier.

Growth has slowed this year because new mass-market devices have not yet been launched, but the market is expected to accelerate growth next year, with annual shipments of about 48 million units in 2025, the report said.

CTOnews.com learned that Meta recently released a new product, Quest Pro. Unlike previous devices that only have hand tracking, the Quest Pro also has eye and face tracking, Counterpoint Research said. Meta hopes to consolidate its leading position in the consumer sector with Quest Pro while expanding its market share in the enterprise sector.

In addition, the report says competition will intensify as Sony PlayStation VR 2 and Apple's first XR headset are expected to be released next year. As major OEM enters the market one after another, the equipment specification will be the focus of people's attention.
