CTOnews.com November 29 news, South Korean start-ups Zigbang and Samsung launched the world's first ultra-wideband (UWB) technology support smart door lock. The biggest highlight of the door lock is that it does not need to touch the phone to the door lock part like the traditional NFC smart door lock, as long as the phone can automatically open the door within the specified range of the door lock.

Zigbang is naturally designed to be secure, starting with only users who have been authenticated by the owner (such as family members or friends). Second, every time these registered users unlock in this way, they will receive a notification from Zigbang app to let them know about the entry and exit.

The new smart locks are also compatible with Samsung's Find My Device network, so when a smartphone is lost, users simply log in to the Find My Device website and delete the Zigbang lock's digital key. Samsung says it will partner with more brands to bring UWB-based smart home devices.

CTOnews.com understands that Samsung devices currently supporting UWB technology include Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 4.

CTOnews.com learned that Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology is a wireless carrier communication technology that does not use sinusoidal carriers, but uses nanosecond non-sinusoidal narrow pulses to transmit data, so it occupies a wide spectrum.

UWB technology has the advantages of low system complexity, low power spectral density of transmitted signal, insensitive to channel fading, low interception ability and high positioning accuracy, especially suitable for high-speed wireless access in dense multipath places such as indoor.
