CTOnews.com, November 29, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily, the latest IC Insights report points out that after record global semiconductor sales in 2022, semiconductor sales are expected to decline by 5% in 2023 compared with the same period last year. Plummeting memory prices and global economic uncertainty are putting pressure on next year.

Specifically, after surging 25 per cent to $614.7 billion (4.43 trillion yuan) in 2021, global semiconductor sales are expected to grow 3 per cent year-on-year in 2022 and hit a new record of $636 billion (4.59 trillion yuan) this year, according to IC Insights analysis.

CTOnews.com has learned that the report points out that the disadvantages that have emerged in the second half of this year are expected to continue into the first half of next year. With weak demand from companies and PCs and smartphones, rising chip inventory levels and continued weakness in the memory market, total semiconductor sales are expected to fall 5 per cent year-on-year next year. Total IC sales are expected to fall 6% year-on-year, while non-IC O-S-D is expected to grow slightly from a year earlier.

In addition, IC Insights predicts that future semiconductor sales will still rebound and achieve stronger growth over the next three years after a decline in the 2023 cycle. Semiconductor sales are expected to reach $843.6 billion (about 6.08 trillion yuan) by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 6.5 per cent.
