CTOnews.com, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) according to Twitter CEO Elon Musk, Apple has "basically stopped" advertising on Twitter and asked Apple if it hates "freedom of speech."

Musk then released an opinion poll asking whether Apple should "disclose all censorship actions that affect customers," and then began to forward content from companies with which Apple had "moderate discussions." He also retweeted Epic Games's 1984 imitation video, which suggests that Apple has a monopoly on the app store.

"Apple also threatened to remove Twitter from App Store, but did not tell us why it did so," Musk said.

Since Musk took over Twitter, advertisers have been withdrawing Twitter-based campaigns because of Musk's censorship and the reactivation of previously banned accounts.

In the past few weeks, Musk has laid off more than half of his Twitter employees, including many who are responsible for policy development and content review. This creates problems for advertisers, especially after the launch of the $8 Twitter Blue subscription service, including account verification, and Twitter users quickly learned that they could spend $8 to pass off as high-profile accounts and companies, causing chaos on the platform.

Last week, a report released by the non-profit organization Media Matters showed that Twitter had lost half of its top 100 advertisers. These advertisers spent $2 billion on Twitter in 2020 and only about $750 million in 2022, so Twitter faces a significant loss of advertising revenue. AT&T, CNN, Dell, Allstate, DirecTV, Hewlett-Packard, Nestl é, Coca-Cola, Verizon, General Mills, Volkswagen, Wells Fargo and other companies no longer advertise Twitter.

Mr Musk tried to persuade advertisers to stay on the platform and even called some brands' CEO himself, according to the Financial Times. Musk has been "reprimanding" companies that stop running Twitter ads.

CTOnews.com learned that if Twitter reached the point where Apple and Google were removed from its stores because of its lack of "content control", Mr Musk said he would "build an alternative phone". 'We don't want to get there, but if we have no other choice, we will,'he said.
