According to the report, Baihetan Hydropower Station installed a million kilowatt hydro-generator set not only ranked first in the world in terms of unit capacity, but also achieved 100 percent localization. R & D, manufacturing and installation have driven the upgrading of the whole industrial chain of hydropower equipment in China.

Baihetan Hydropower Station is located in the lower reaches of Jinsha River at the junction of Ningnan County in Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County in Yunnan Province. It is the hydropower project with the largest scale and the highest technical difficulty in the world today. It is equipped with 16 sets of hydropower generating units independently developed by China and with the largest single unit capacity of one million kilowatts in the world, with a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts.

On November 5, Unit 10 of Baihetan Hydropower Station successfully passed 72-hour trial operation and was officially put into commercial operation. This is also the 15th million-kilowatt hydrogenerator set put into operation at Baihetan Hydropower Station.

CTOnews.com learned that after Baihetan Hydropower Station is fully completed and put into operation, it will become the second largest hydropower station in the world after the Three Gorges Hydropower Station, with an average annual power generation of 62.443 billion kWh, which can replace about 19.68 million tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 52 million tons.

At that time, the hydropower units completed and put into operation by the Three Gorges Group in the main stream of the Yangtze River will reach 110 units, with a total installed capacity of 71.695 million kilowatts, and together with Wudongde, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Three Gorges and Gezhouba, they will form the world's largest clean energy corridor.
