CTOnews.com, Nov. 27-Tesla CEO Elon Musk has just posted on Weibo that Tesla's team has just driven a 81000-pound (36774 kg) Tesla Semi to cover a range of 500 miles (more than 800km).

Back in December 2017, when Musk released the Semi, he said the Semi would have a range of 500 miles (804.67 km) at full load. And according to Tesla's official website page, 81000 pounds is also about the full weight of the Semi with a trailer (82000 pounds on the official website).

On October 7, Elon Musk tweeted that Tesla Semi electric truck was officially put into production and will be delivered on December 1, with Pepsi as the first delivery target. Mr Musk said the Semi would have a range of 500miles and would be "super fun to drive". Later, Musk also said that future versions of the Semi could reach a range of 621 miles (about 1000 kilometers).

CTOnews.com learned that Tesla Semi electric truck first appeared in the moon phase in November 2017. Specifications released at the time showed that the car could reach 60 miles per hour in 20 seconds when it was fully loaded. And "highway speed" can be maintained even on steep slopes. In addition, Tesla also said that the car can be recharged 70 per cent in 30 minutes.

It is reported that a number of companies ordered the car shortly after its debut in 2017, including 100 by PepsiCo, 130 by Wal-Mart in Canada, 40 by Anheuser-Busch, and 15 by Frito-Lay, a wholly owned subsidiary of PepsiCo. Tesla originally planned to start delivering the Semi in 2019, but it has been delayed for several years due to parts shortages and other reasons.
