Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com November 26 news, citing foreign technology media AppleInsider reported that the Korean Fair Trade Commission recently said that Apple will fix the problem that local developers need to pay 33% commission.

According to Apple's official policy, the commission for App Store is 30%, which means that developers will split the revenue from the app store with Apple. In South Korea, however, in addition to the commission, local developers have to pay a 10 per cent local value-added tax (VAT), which is eventually equivalent to 33 per cent of the commission.

CTOnews.com learned that regulators raided Apple's local offices in September 2022 after South Korean developers reported the matter to the country's Federal Trade Commission. Han Ki-jeong, chairman of South Korea's Fair Trade Commission (FTC), told reporters that the problem may now be resolved.

He said:

FTC quickly launched an investigation after it received in September that Apple only charged unfair commissions to local app developers. Recently, Apple said it would take the initiative to correct problematic actions by January next year.

If Apple can handle this well. This will alleviate the difficulties of domestic application developers to some extent.
