The first phase of proven geological reserves of 145.968 billion cubic meters has been approved by an expert group of the Ministry of Natural Resources, marking the birth of another large-scale integrated shale gas field with more than 100 billion cubic meters in China.

Qijiang shale gas field is located in Qijiang District of Chongqing and Xishui County of Guizhou Province. It is located in the complex structural area of the basin margin of southeastern Sichuan Basin, which is reformed by strong tectonic movement and has the characteristics of "double complexity" on the surface and underground. This gas field is the first mid-deep-deep shale gas field discovered in the complex structural area of basin margin in China.

CTOnews.com learned that, in general, shale gas buried more than 3500 meters deep is defined as deep shale gas. In the field of deep shale gas, Sinopec has 6.3 trillion cubic meters of deep shale gas resources in the mining right area of Sichuan Basin, which is an important field to increase shale gas reserves and production in China in the future.
