The Qinghai representative office of CITIC Branch Mobile and Hainan Unicom successfully completed the construction and opening of the first 900MHz demonstration station, and took the lead in completing the construction of the current phase of Hainan site. All the test indicators meet the requirements, and the on-site test network coverage index of the new site area is significantly improved, and the user perception is good.

According to reports, in the pastoral areas in the mountain gully, there was no network coverage before, and the 900MHz network can provide herdsmen with a higher quality and good perception of the 5G network.

CTOnews.com learned that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has approved China Unicom to re-use the frequency resources in the 949-960MHz band (900MHz band) currently used in 2G / 3G / 4G systems for 5G systems.

900MHz band has the characteristics of low propagation loss, wide coverage, strong penetration and low cost of network deployment, so it is not only the globally recognized "golden" band of public mobile communication, but also the main frequency band used in the early 2G public mobile communication system.

According to a person in charge of China Unicom, by the end of this year, China Unicom's 900MHz low-frequency network will build 170000 stations in rural areas, which can quickly improve the level of 5G coverage in rural areas and help digital rural construction.
