CTOnews.com, Nov. 24 (Xinhua)-- Apple is interested in buying Manchester United Football Club, the British football team, for 5.8 billion pounds ($7 billion).

Apple company Tim Cook has expressed interest in discussing a potential deal with the current Glazer family to buy Manchester United Football Club, according to The Daily Star. The asking price was initially set at 8.25 billion pounds ($10 billion, about 70.867 billion yuan), but it is understood that Apple plans to spend nearly 5.8 billion pounds (49.822 billion yuan).

This is a huge figure in the sports world and will break the record price of 4.25 billion pounds (36.507 billion yuan) set by Chelsea Football Club in May. It will also represent the health profits of the Glazer family, who bought Manchester United for less than £800m (about 6.872 billion yuan) in 2005. But for Apple, which is as rich as it is, it doesn't cost much. At present, Apple is the world's largest technology company, with annual revenue of about 326 billion pounds and a market capitalization of about 2 trillion pounds.

The California-based technology company has never had a large sports team before, but the business opportunities offered by Manchester United are said to be the main factor of interest to Apple Tim Cook.

Manchester United moved into the stadium, nicknamed "Dream Theatre" in 1910, and has made it his home ever since. The stadium was last renovated between 2005 and 2006, adding 8000 seats.
