CTOnews.com, November 24, recently, the second project result of "the second phase of network slicing of 5G intelligent terminal operating system" led by China Mobile, "main conclusions of pre-commercial network slicing test" was officially released.

This achievement has been actively contributed by 8 international mainstream manufacturers, including Intel, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Ericsson, ZTE, Ziguang Zhareui and Enli, as well as 9 international mainstream operators, including Deutsche Telekom, Hong Kong Telecom, Korea SK Telecom, Turkey Telecom, Canada Bell, Japan Ducomo, Philippines Telecom and Telecom Italy, and the support of all NGMN and GTI members.

CTOnews.com learned that based on the definition of the pre-commercial testing framework for 5G terminal slices released in the second phase of the project, China Mobile, Korea SK Telecom and Turkey Telecom had initially completed 5G terminal slicing related tests in the first half of 2022. It has received strong support and active participation from 10 network manufacturers, including Huawei, MediaTek, OPPO, Qualcomm, Mobile, Samsung Electronics, Ziguang Zhanrui, vivo, Xiaomi, ZTE and other network manufacturers, chip manufacturers and terminal manufacturers.

In the main conclusions of pre-commercial network slicing test released this time, China Mobile, Korea SK Telecom and Turkey Telecom combed and shared the test results based on their respective 5G terminal slicing tests. the main contents include: NSSAI related test, URSP related test, 4ram 5G interoperability related test, FTP / Speedtest download service test, video service test, etc., the test results basically meet the expectations. The purpose of this paper is to provide a reference basis for the subsequent evaluation of the maturity of the 5G terminal slice industry.

The main conclusions of this release cover the most comprehensive and detailed test results related to terminal slices in the industry so far. In addition to the basic slicing communication protocol testing, the white paper also presents the slicing service capability and the test results of different kinds of terminals, which is also the first time in the industry in terms of scene diversity, slice interoperability and R16 capability testing. it is of great significance to promote the development and application of 5G terminal slicing.

In addition, according to the published main conclusions, NGMN has sent contact letters to domestic and foreign mainstream industry standard organizations, such as GCF, 3GPP RAN5, GSMA, CCSA, MEF, etc., the latest progress of synchronous terminal slicing testing and the release of main conclusions, indicating that 5G smartphone terminals and 5G general modules have basically the ability to slice support, and can start the testing and certification of terminal slicing conformance instruments in GCF.
