CTOnews.com, Nov. 24, according to Reuters, a spokesman for Volkswagen said on Wednesday local time that the company had stopped all paid activities on Twitter until further notice.

After Elon Musk took over the Twitter platform earlier this month, Volkswagen said it had advised its brands to suspend paid advertising on the social media platform until further notice.

CTOnews.com learned that Volkswagen Group owns Volkswagen, Skoda, Jetta, Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley, Porsche, Ducati, Scania, Mann and other brands.

A Volkswagen spokesman pointed out that all brands followed this advice, while Audi chose to stop activities such as direct postings and answer customers' questions only on the website.

Germany's Economic Weekly quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that Audi had stopped all activities on Twitter. In an emailed statement, an Audi spokesman added: "We are closely monitoring the situation and will decide what to do next in the light of it." Audi has previously tweeted almost every day, but has not tweeted since November 1. At the end of October, Elon Musk took over Twitter.
