CTOnews.com, November 24, the latest Canalys statistics show that in the third quarter of 2022, true wireless headphones (TWS) are still the only category of personal smart audio devices (including TWS, wireless headwear, wireless neck hangs) that keep growing, growing 6% year-on-year to 76.9 million.

CTOnews.com learned that the top five global TWS shipments in the third quarter of 2022 were Apple (31%), Samsung (10%), boAt (5%), Xiaomi (4%) and Skullcandy (3%).

Apple (including beats) achieved 34 per cent year-on-year growth and 31 per cent market share as its new products helped it stabilize its No. 1 position in the third quarter.

Samsung (including Harman subsidiaries) still ranked second, but shipments fell 15% year-on-year, mainly due to the impact of reduced shipments of the Galaxy series; new high-end Galaxy products were launched in the third quarter, which adjusted discounts and binding policies in order to maintain product tone, and shipments were relatively conservative.

The third place is occupied by local Indian manufacturer boAt, but its growth rate has gradually slowed, gaining 5 per cent global market share at a year-on-year growth rate of 50 per cent.

Xiaomi and Skullcandy ranked fourth and fifth with market shares of 4 per cent and 3 per cent, respectively.

Canalys said that in the third quarter, a large number of traditional audio manufacturers such as Sony, Jabra and JBL chose to use aggressive discount pricing strategies in the overseas market to maintain their shipments, thus affecting the overseas shipments of many cost-effective manufacturers.

In the Chinese mainland market, the top five global TWS shipments in the third quarter of 2022 were Apple (17%), Walker (11%), Xiaomi (11%), Huawei (9%) and QCY (8%).
