CTOnews.com, November 24, according to CCTV news, a new generation of relay protection system independently developed by Chinese enterprises was officially put into operation at Xiaowan Hydropower Station in the middle and lower reaches of the Lancang River today.

According to the report, this means that the core control system, known as the "brain" of the hydropower station, has been fully localized, and it is also a major technological breakthrough in China's hydropower control system. The system is developed by a joint R & D team led by Huaneng Group, which realizes 100% localization of the whole process of hydropower core control system.

CTOnews.com learned that the core control system of the hydropower station includes four major systems: computer monitoring, governor, excitation and relay protection, which is an important foundation to ensure the stability of the unit and power grid. Data show that the total installed capacity of Xiaowan Hydropower Station is 4.2 million kilowatts, and the average annual power generation of  is 19 billion kilowatt hours.

According to the National Energy Administration, by the end of October, the country's cumulative installed power generation capacity was about 2.5 billion kilowatts, an increase of 8.3 percent over the same period last year. From January to October, the country's major power generation enterprises completed an investment of 460.7 billion yuan in power supply projects, an increase of 27.0% over the same period last year.
