CTOnews.com August 19 news, Xiaomi Group today released its second quarter results ended June 30, 2022. According to the financial report, Xiaomi's second-quarter revenue was 70.7 billion yuan, down 20.1% from the same period last year; net profit was 1.39 billion yuan, estimated at 1.5 billion yuan; and adjusted net profit was 2.08 billion yuan, estimated at 1.99 billion yuan, down 67.1% from the same period last year.

In terms of the first half of the year, Xiaomi Group's revenue in the first half of 2022 was 143.5 billion yuan, down 12.8 percent from the same period last year, and its adjusted net profit was 4.939 billion yuan, down 60.1 percent from the same period last year.

CTOnews.com learned that the financial report showed that smartphone segment revenue fell 28.5% from 59.1 billion yuan in the second quarter of 2021 to 42.3 billion yuan in the second quarter of 2022, mainly due to a decrease in smartphone shipments. Smartphone shipments fell by 26.2% from 52.9 million in the second quarter of 2021 to 39.1 million in the second quarter of 2022.

Xiaomi ranked third in global smartphone shipments in the second quarter, with a market share of 13.8%, up 1.2 percentage points from a month earlier, according to Canalys.

According to third-party data, the market share of Xiaomi Group's smartphones in the price range of 3000 yuan to 4000 yuan in Chinese mainland rose 3.5 percent year on year to 18.2 percent in the second quarter of 2022, while the market share in the price range of 4000 yuan to 5000 yuan increased by 2.0 percent year on year to 15.5 percent.

The number of global and Chinese mainland MIUI monthly active users reached an all-time high in June 2022. Among them, the number of global MIUI monthly active users reached 547 million, up 93.1 million from the same period last year; Chinese mainland MIUI monthly active users reached 140.2 million, up 16.3 million from the same period last year.

As of June 30, 2022, the number of IoT devices (excluding smartphones, tablets and laptops) connected to Xiaomi's AIoT platform reached 526.9 million, an increase of 40.7 per cent year-on-year. The number of users of five or more devices connected to Xiaomi's AIoT platform (excluding smartphones, tablets and notebooks) exceeded 10 million for the first time, reaching 10.2 million, an increase of 37.0% year-on-year.

Xiaomi's Internet service revenue in the second quarter was 6.97 billion yuan, down 0.9% from the same period last year, with an estimated 7.09 billion yuan. Of this total, advertising revenue was 4.5 billion yuan, an increase of 0.6% over the same period last year, while revenue from game business was 1 billion yuan, up 4.7% from the same period last year.

In the second quarter of 2022, Xiaomi Group's R & D expenditure reached 3.8 billion yuan, an increase of 22.8% over the same period last year.

Xiaomi Group spent 611 million yuan on innovative business such as intelligent electric vehicles this quarter. In the field of self-driving, an elite R & D team of more than 500 people has been set up, and the technical layout strategy of full-stack self-research algorithm has been formulated; the first phase of R & D-related investment in the field of self-driving is 3.3 billion yuan.
